I was born and raised in San Francisco's Bernal Heights where I got my start as an independent artist. Apart from a big brother who was a photographer, I didn't have many influences around me so I attribute most of my tendancy towards things creative to my dna and having very supportive parents.

Guitar at 12, drums at 11, piano at 5 and voice at birth. Although everyone in my family had some kind of experience playing an instrument, none of them had aspirations to play for audiences nor write their own music. I did. Professionally, I started playing original music around the Bay Area at the age of 17. Also, my parents always had a reel-to-reel tape machine in the house and, eventually, my Mom bought me a mutlitrack recorder. Although music is not my primary pursuit, it is my first creative love. Remaining independent and under the radar has allowed me to do things my way and derive great satisfaction from it. I have been fortunte to have received good press and recognition, however. I've won several songwriting awards, including 10 from Billboard Magazine and lots of great reviews. I am a voting Grammy member and both a writer and publisher member of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP), yet still very much an indie.

Film & Photography
At age 9 my brother gave me my first point-and-shoot camera. As would any kid, I shot anything and everything. This included everything from a police arrest and car crash to one of my first concerts. This led to borrowing my brother's professional camera and eventually buying my own. At 9 I also became fascinated with movies. I co-created my first film with a couple of friends, manually splicing the 8mm strips and even included footage of Clint Eastwood as a bomber pilot (from the Sci-Fi film, Tarantula). At 12, I got my first super 8 camera and started making my own films. It's from this footage that I received my first television screen credit on San Francisco's KRON-TV, then an NBC affiliate. Today, a lot of my films are related to music (my first love). I am currently on the New Media Council of the Producers Guild of America.

Design, Technology & Education
I longed for the future when one could do everything in-house and knew that digital technology would pave the way. I got my first Macintosh and learned those technlogies as they were developing and secured my first full time teaching job at Silicon Valley College. Today I work in all those fields and direct digital media programs for San Francisco State University Extended Learning.
